In April 2007, I visited Seattle and spend a day touring the Virginia Mason Health System (VMHS). Over the last seven years, under the leadership of their CEO, Gary Kaplan MD, VMHS has implemented a significant quality improvement effort that has paid dividends in error reduction and streamlining.
